Hey!

"HEY!!" This word is used to get someone's attention.
"Hey! You dropped your wallet."

"Hey! Come back here!"
It is often used in sentences that express negative emotion, like anger. For example, you want to stop someone from doing something, so you sharply yell, "Hey!" This can be considered rude.

Another usage for "Hey" has become popular, especially among young people. "Hey" has become an informal greeting.

"Hey! How's it going?"

"Hey! What's up?"
("How's it going?" and "What's up?" are slang alternatives to "How are you?")

Please note that although these phrases are OK for use with friends or peers, it would not be polite to use them when speaking to a parent, teacher or boss.
